A curling fist with nails likes talons, razor edged and sharp came flying through the blackness towards Hakkai, "Gonou..." it whispered through the air like razor blades on the wind and he reached out blindly to those coloured eyes that stared at him accusingly from the darkness, "Oh Kanan..." the words fell from his lips with a cry of anguish as the eyes faded and the sound of a knife cut through the ominous silence with a cry of pain...
"NO!" He screamed, sitting up with a cry as Hakuryu gave a puzzled coo and curled round his neck with a soft trilling, comforting him as he gazed round.
Of course, he'd been asleep, on the banks of the Holy Rivers where the grass was so soft, the sun so warm...It was no wonder he had soon slipped off into the land of slumber, though he knew better than any that he should be wary, that to sleep was not indeed to dream, no matter what kind of paradise you left behind...
He'd taken a few precious minutes away from the gang to take a bath, the rivers somewhere so quiet it was the epitome for tranquil and it made the half smile of amusement that seemed to be perpetually on his face actually become genuine for a few long moments of bliss as he had trailed his feet in the water...Until the daymares had come...
Shaking his head with a soft sigh, the water that still drenched his locks flying off in droplets and scattering around as he felt for his monacle and slipped it back into place, adjusting it on his nose, before turning to regard the small dragon still curled round his shoulders, "come along, Hakuryu," he murmured with that same soft smile that said so much and hid so much more, "we had best been getting back, it wouldn't do if Sanzo had killed someone in our absence..."
But as he stood and began to get his belongings together, his ear pricked as he heard a rustling in the undergrowth, and he felt for the Chi, just in case...

Kira crawled out of her tent and stretched as her eyes adjusted to the area around her. She looked down to see a small rabbit lying on the ground. Maybe it was sleeping? Whatever she didn’t care. She bent back into the tent she had only just crawled out a few moments before and grabbed a small yellow cloth.
She wanted to freshen up and she swore she had seen a river near by. She made her way towards where she guessed the river would be. She picked out little twigs and leaves out of her red silk like hair and then rubbed her bright green eyes.
By the time she had pulled out the last twig she could hear the sound of moving water. The river had to be near now. She was about to push past some branches when her foot got caught in a root that had grown out of the ground. She fell down smack on her face and made rather alot of noise as she pushed away and the bugs that had decided that crawling on her would of been a good idea.
"Ehh this is so gross!" She hissed under her breath as she flicked off the last bug and looked back at her foot. Her ankle was caught under the root. She had left her dagger at the tent so she couldn’t cute herself out. Why did she have to get suck in these kinds of things?

Sanzo and Gojyo had begun arguing. The cigerettes that the two seemed to live off of had finally run out and already the two were suffering from withdrawal symptoms, so, naturally, they were at each others throats. Goku had decided, rather intelligently, that he wasn't going to get involved in thsi argument, he didn't want to be hit with either Sanzo's fn or Gojyo's fist. He'd announced that he was goig to go for a walk, rather loudly as well and nobody had bothered to tell him not to. Even Sanzo hadn't seemed to have cared.
So he'd ran off into the forests, hoping that maybe, just maybe he'd find a tree with some ripe fruits. He'd happily spend all day lounging in te branches, just munching on some apples or something. But then he'd probably worry everybody and they'd come looking for him with weapons brandished. He'd doubt that Sanzo would forgive him for disappearing for hours on end... He knew the fake monk must worry about him at least a little bit.
Goku's bubble of thought was popped by a sharp cry that seemed to be somewhere nearby. Goku, being the nosy little bugger that he was (and knowing that Hakkai was somewhere around the area) followed the voice. The soft trickle of water reached Goku's ears and he visibly brightened up. Five hundred years Goku had been without water or food, so whenever he came across one of the two he always tried to take advantage of it.. Wouldn't you want to after five hundred years imprisonment? He momentariy forgot why he was walking in that direction, until of course he reached the clearing that lay beside the river.
Hakkai and Hakuryu were there, Hakkai crouched down collecting up his belonging, Hakuryu flapping it's little white wings just above the converted Youkai. Hakkai suddenly tensed, so much for being somewhat sly. "Hey, Hakkai!" He called, stumbling from the bush in which he had been stood in, "Where've you been man? I've been looking for ya." Ok, so it was a bit of a lie. He hadn't been looking for him at all, "Heya Hakuryu," he added, grinning sheepishly as the small dragon made some sort of 'kyuu'ing which managed to make him sound somewhat neglected.

A pleasant smile alighted his lips as he turned to Goku, momentarily distracted from the source of the sound by hs monkey god friend, "good morning Goku!" he smiled, allowing him to pet Hakuyru with a good natured laugh, "looking for me? Why, I had been here the entire time, you had to but look..." his smile widened somewhat, though it was hard to tell if he was lkaughing at Goku, or with him.
Turning away from him, the pleasant smile still on his face, he looked across the water with concerning, noting ripples from an area cross the river, and turned back to Goku with a flicker of something in his eyes, "don' t make it obvious, but I do believe there uis something across the river, though who knows? It may be friendly!"

"Really? Where?!" Goku said, none too quietly, looking around the taller man to the girl at the other side of the river. He never could be subtle, asking him to be was just a waste of breathe. Sanzo had learnt that long, long ago and just usually never mentioned anything he didn't want everybody within a ten metre hearing distance to know, "Oh right, there..." He fell silent for a moment, staring at the girl rather unabashly, ".. She doesn't look dangerous.."
He paused for a moment, grinning suddenly and waving widely at the smaller figure, "Hey,you! Over there! Hi!"

Had it been Gojyo, or Sanzo, with Goku, he would undoubtably have been hit upside the head, bu, as it was, it was Hakkai, and he merely gave a smal, almost inaudible exasperated sigh before turning to regqard the girl across the river with a sall haf-smile on his face, looking all the more welcoming for it as Hakuryu made small keening noises and twinned himself more tightly round Hakkai's neck as the human come demon stood and gestured to Goku, "you might want to watch yourself, Goku," he warned, "not all is as it can sometimes seem..."

"She doesn't seem evil, Hakkai," he laughed, answering the unsaid question. Goku had an almost uncanny ability of knowing when somebody was or wasn't a youkai, or whether somebody was going to hurt him. His hunches weren't always right, but sometimes they were, "Plus, i don't think she's an assassin... She wouldn't have just fell onto her face in frontof us both if she were.. And i think shes human." It was getting harder to tell now, many Youkai seemed to be picking up power limiters and using them to keep their human form. It was rather annoying. Through everything he said he'd kept that same constant smile upon his face, as if he knew that he was right and Hakkai could do nothing to convince him otherwise. He turned golden eyes from the converterd Youkai in front of him to the girl though he still spoke to his friend, "i mean.. Look at her Hakkai, do you sense anything evil?"
He'd been horribly wrong once, he'd let his stomach do his thinking for him and had ended up in a temple whis the others camped in the forest like good people. The food that h was given was said to fill him upm though unfortuatly for the monkey the food had ended up to be seeds which planted themselves within his body and tried to absorb his energy... It hadn't worked as it was meant to, but his three friends still had to come and save him..

Kira, still being trapped under the root, sunk lower in the long grass not wanting to be seen. A bright red blush covered her cheeks as she hid not wanting them to see her. This had been the first time she had met with anyone out side the little village she used to live at. She looked up over the grass shyly but her head bobed back down not wanting them to see her.
